CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.
We've been in the CrossFit community since the early days. As the oldest CrossFit gym in DC, we've seen it all. Our programming builds on the idea that a human being should be able to prepare for any physical activity, with a handful of fundamental movements. Whether you walk, run, skate, or ski, Primal's Crossfit program will enhance your performance.
Our trainers work together to create 8-16 week cycles that focus on improving specific components of your overall fitness. Whether it be building general strength, cardiovascular endurance, or mobility, our approach is designed to help anyone at any fitness level.
We post and coach a "workout of the day" (WOD) every day that builds toward these goals.

Guided by one of our supportive and experienced trainers, you will gain proficiency in the movements and exercises you’ll encounter in Primal’s Crossfit classes. Spend the rest of your month enjoying an Unlimited Membership. Challenge yourself with an intermediate-scaled version of the daily WODs ("Workout of the Day"), at any of the CrossFit group class times we offer.
Our On-Ramp class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00pm. To maintain optimal quality, we have to limit 6 people maximum per class - so sign up now!

Clients with an active unlimited membership can come to as many of our daily classes as they like. Drop-ins are welcome anytime.
The one-on-one intro session is a 20 minute consultation during which you will have the opportunity to speak with the head coach about your fitness goals and ask any question you have about our Crossfit program. Do those times not work with your schedule? Do you prefer a one-on-one approach? If so, then our Personal Training On-Ramp is right for you. For the price of $200, you receive two, 1 hour training sessions, scheduled at a time that works for you to learn and develop your skills at complex and dynamic exercises. We will tailor our instruction to your individual needs and abilities to bring you into the fold. After you've completed your initial training, the rest of the month is yours to jump into whichever of our regular classes work best for you.
If your schedule does not allow you to attend our regular classes or if you simply prefer a one-on-one approach, our instructors will be happy to give you their personal attention. For more information, please use the contact form at the bottom of this page.
